1 cup ground orange peel
1 tsp. salt
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
1 cup water
1 Tbsp. salad oil
3 cups flour
1 beaten egg
3 tsp. baking powder
Cook orange peel, sugar and water together for 15 minutes. Cool.
Sift together dry ingredients. Add milk, oil, orange mixture and
dry ingredients to egg. Pour into 3 greased and floured bread
pans. Bake at 350 degrees about 45 minutes. Slice thin. Serve
with sweet butter or hot tea. This bread freezes well.
Bohemian Yeast Pancakes - Czech Republic
1 pkg. dry yeast
2 cups milk
1 egg and 1 yolk
1 3/4 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. sugar
Dissolve yeast in lukewarm milk. Beat in egg and yolk. Gradually
add salt, sugar, and flour. Beat all together. Batter will be
thin. Let rise 45 minutes. Bake on hot greased griddle on both
sides. Brush pancakes with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon and
sugar. Serve hot or you can spread pancakes with ground prunes
and top with cottage cheese and a dab of whipped cream. Strawberry
jam, pie cherries or ground sweeten prunes could also be used.
